The UV protection filters dangerous ultraviolet jets. Cornea/callosity and eyepiece are protected in such a way. (The lens offers however no replacement for sun glasses, since the eye becomes not completely shielded. The lens is to be understood as additional protection.)

Which is a cornea/callosity curvature?
The cornea/callosity of the eye is in all directions evenly curved, thus spherically (sphericalally), as e.g. the surface of a ball. With a great many humans there are however two different curvatures. The eye is thus oval (torisch), comparably for instance with an egg. Thus develops a picture, which is sharper in the direction than in the other direction. In the technical language one calls these directions oh situations. The cornea/callosity curvature is a wide-spread form of the defective vision.
